Cornelia Caroline Funke (born December 10, 1958, in Dorsten, Northrhine-Westphalia) is a celebrated, multiple award-winning German author of children's fiction. Her books have enjoyed wild popularity in her native Germany, and are now translated into English. Funke is considered one of the most influential modern fantasy writers living.[citation needed]
