Charles Tannock

Charles Tannock (born September 25, 1957 in Aldershot, Hampshire) is a British politician, psychiatrist, and Member of the European Parliament for London for the Conservative Party. He was first elected to the European Parliament in 1999. He was Vice-President of the Human Rights Subcommittee of the Parliament 2004-07 and is currently Vice-President of the EU-Ukraine PCC delegation.He is UK Conservative Foreign Affairs Spokesman and EPP-ED Deputy Coordinator (Spokesman) on the Foreign Affairs Committee.

He was educated at Bradfield College and Balliol College, Oxford. Before being elected he was a consultant psychiatrist at University College Hospital. He was assistant Research Secretary of the Bow Group from 1989 to 1990, publishing Bow Group papers and made several contributions to the scientific literature particularly in the field of ME/CFS and anxiety disorders as a medical researcher. He is divorced with one son, Thomas Tannock, a student at Edinburgh University.
