Channel NewsAsia (simplified Chinese: 亚洲新闻台; traditional Chinese: 亞洲新聞台; pinyin: Yàzhōu Xīnwén Tái; abbreviated CNA) is a pan-Asian news channel based in Singapore and owned by MediaCorp. Started in 1 March 1999, it has since grown into a major Asian news broadcaster with programmes telecast to 16.3 million homes and hotels in 20 Asian territories today. It is available on the AsiaSat 3S and Hot Bird satellite. Channel NewsAsia Singapore's feed is available on the free to air network in Singapore as well as on MediaCorp's TVMobile service on SBS Transit public buses and selected locales.

Contents

  • Channel NewsAsia International
  • Channel NewsAsia Singapore

Both feeds are almost the same, with very little difference. The major difference is the international feed does not screen some programmes shown on the Singapore Feed such as the Singapore news bulletins and 20/20. Also, the Singapore feed features commercials intended for the local audience.

Channel NewsAsia revamped the look of both feeds to a more contemporary feel. New hard studios were designed replacing the virtual studios used in the past and a simpler, more unified overall theme during news programmes was also incorporated. The changes were introduced on July 17, 2006

The news and stock ticker tape is a permanent feature on Channel NewsAsia and is not removed even during commercials. This allows for uninterrupted viewing of the latest news and stock prices. During weekends, Singaporean viewers get both the date and time while International viewers only get the date on the left side of the screen. During latest breaking news, a white bar appears at the top portion of the ticker in which the headlines of the breaking news are written.

Channel NewsAsia is primarily a news channel focusing mainly on Asian news and current affairs. Each of its news bulletins run for a half hour starting at the top of the hour, except for Primetime Morning, which runs for 3 consecutive hours.
