Carlos Torano

Carlos Alberto Toraño (born August 7, 1943) is a cigar manufacturer and well known cigar tobacco distributor. He is currently the Master Blender for Toraño Cigars and Central America Tobacco based in Miami, Florida. He has worked in the Tobacco business since 1974 shortly after the death of his father.
Toraño was born in Havana, Cuba and attended the Graham Eckes boarding school in Palm Beach, Florida, graduating in 1960. He attended the University of Miami and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1964.
In 1982 Central America Tobacco was established as a tobacco broker and distributor by Carlos Toraño and two business partners. Carlos bought out the majority business share in 1992 and continued with the production of cigar tobacco and the manufacturing of premium hand-made cigars. In 1994 Carlos established the Carlos Toraño brand name in recognition of his father’s (Carlos Toraño, Senior) strong legacy in tobacco farming.
Carlos Toraño held the corporate title of President for Central America Tobacco until June of 2005 when his son Carlos Octavio (Charlie) Toraño assumed the role. Carlos Toraño currently resides in Miami, Florida.
