Blues for the Red Sun is a 1992 (see 1992 in music) album by stoner rock band Kyuss. It is named after episode five of Carl Sagan's Cosmos, entitled "Blues for a Red Planet". It is one of the earliest pioneering recordings in stoner rock, a bass-heavy, grungey form of heavy metal. Along with Sleep's Holy Mountain by Sleep and Spine of God by Monster Magnet, it is considered one of the pillars of stoner rock.[citation needed]

In 2001 the album was featured in Q magazine's list of the 50 Heaviest Albums Of All Time.
