On 2007-01-29, Network Ten, Endemol Southern Star, and Masterfoods announced "Australia's biggest ever integrated television promotion", the Big Brother Starburst Golden Key, which would allow a member of the public to enter the Big Brother House as a housemate.[3]

From 2007-02-15, unique alphanumeric codes will be included in packs of Starburst, a confectionery manufactured by Masterfoods. One hundred codes will give people obtaining them the opportunity to audition for the season after it begins. Of these people, one will become a housemate, and will be eligible to win the season and all prizes.[3]

Australia's Big Brother Starbust Golden Key contest is similar to an idea first conceived for Big Brother UK 2006 in which 100 golden tickets were placed randomly in Kit Kat chocolate bars available to the public (ref. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory). A new "Golden Housemate" emerged from a live drawing consisting of 34 golden ticket holders.

The first teaser for BB07 was run during Ten Network's Cool Aid: The National Carbon Test. It featured a series of gold and green dots spinning around in a circle on a white screen, becoming a green "BB" logo. Other promotions have since been made including the above promotion repeated. A few weeks later a promotion was aired about the Starburst Golden Key (see above). The advert included Starburst trucks leaving a compound and a voiceover mentioning the secret.

The new series of promotions for BB07 features a man as a black silhouette completing a stereotypical election campaign, and is accompanied by a voiceover saying things along the lines of "This man is the voice for your generation" and "This is the man you can trust". A later series of ads featured the phrase "Making the Big Brother House a (blank) place to live", with words such as "more revealing", "tougher", and "more entertaining" filling in the blank.

It has been rumoured that one of the spare Ten Digital channels will be used for Big Brother 24 hour coverage. It has been rumored that 14 hours will be dedicated for a 14 hour live stream from the house and the other 10 hours will be made up of repeats and information. If this confirmed to be true, it will however, not be a world first. The same thing happens in the U.K.
