- Karl Benz, German automobile engineer and inventor (also Carl due to temporarily fashionable French spelling)
- Bertha Benz (née, Ringer), Karl Benz's wife, the first person to drive an automobile a long distance (over 106 km or 66 miles)
- Benz & Cie. the most important of several companies founded by Karl Benz, sometimes along with partners and his sons, the last of which that merged in 1926 to become Daimler-Benz
