Assembly Member

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the United Kingdom, an Assembly Member (AM, Welsh: Aelod y Cynulliad [AC]) is a member of the National Assembly that passes secondary legislation in Wales, or the London Assembly that scruitinises London's Greater London Authority. (Whereas, Members of the Northern Ireland Assembly are usually known as members of the legislative assembly (MLAs), a term commonly used for assemblies in other countries.)

The acronym, AM (Welsh: AC), is often used as an honorific suffix to the names of such members. The title (and suffix) may be used to refer to other members of deliberative assemblies.
