The American Males

The American Males were a professional wrestling tag team in World Championship Wrestling comprised of Mark Bagwell and Scott Riggs.
The American Males were formed when Marcus Bagwell and Scott Riggs formed a tag team in World Championship Wrestling in August 1995. Bagwell changed his name to "Mark Bagwell" and they quickly defeated Harlem Heat for the WCW World Tag Team Championship on an early edition of WCW Monday Nitro. It was short-lived as they lost the titles back to Harlem Heat on the October 28, 1995 edition of WCW Saturday Night.
The Males feuded with Harlem Heat until the end of 1995. In 1996, they were put in feuds with minor teams such as The Barrio Brothers (Ricky Santana & Fidel Sierra) and Men At Work (Chris Kanyon & Mark Starr).
By the summer of 1996, they got better feuds such as The Blue Bloods and The Faces of Fear but never got back into the title picture.
In December 1996, Bagwell turned on Riggs to join the nWo and "Buff Bagwell" was born. Bagwell and Riggs feuded through March 1997 with Bagwell dominating the feud.
When Scotty Anton (Riggs) went to ECW, he did a parody of his previous gimmick, calling himself the US Male and using the overhead clap that was one of the signatures of the American Males.
