Alphabetical order is the order of the alphabet. It is widely used in the classification and ordering of lists, as well as in numerous official documents and communications. By convention, it is the standard method for listing items or people of equal status, for example the names of candidates on ballots.
The order of the characters of the alphabet might be different over the several regions in the world that are using the alphabet with extra characters. The 26 main characters used by most European languages are in the following order:
A-B-C-D-E-F-G-H-I-J-K-L-M-N-O-P-Q-R-S-T-U-V-W-X-Y-Z
The Latin alphabet comes from the old Greek alphabet.
