Aleksander Babakov

Aleksander Babakov is a Russian politician. He was the leader of Rodina, a political party in Russia, for several months in 2006 and organised a merger between his party and the Russian Party of Life and the Pensioners' Party. He is a State Duma deputy and sits on the governing body of the party he helped found, Fair Russia.

Babakov was born on the 8th February 1963 in Kishinev, Moldova. He was elected to the Russian State Duma in 2003 and became party leader in March 2006 following the surprise resignation of Dmitri Rogozin. He has extensive business interests in Eastern Ukraine and allegedly holds Russian, Swedish and Israeli citizenship.

He is married and has two children.
