Alamo Heights is a city surrounded by San Antonio, Texas, U.S. in Bexar County. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 7,319. However, its immediate proximity to San Antonio causes it to appear as part of much larger San Antonio.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.9 square miles (4.8 km²), all of it land.
As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 7,319 people, 3,197 households, and 1,819 families residing in the city. The population density was 3,964.9 people per square mile (1,527.5/km²). There were 3,460 housing units at an average density of 1,874.4/sq mi (722.1/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 93.80% White, 0.56% African American, 0.33% Native American, 0.85% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 2.81% from other races, and 1.64% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 13.55% of the population.
There were 3,197 households out of which 28.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.5% were married couples living together, 7.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 43.1% were non-families. 38.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.16 and the average family size was 2.91.
In the city the population was spread out with 22.3% under the age of 18, 6.2% from 18 to 24, 29.2% from 25 to 44, 25.1% from 45 to 64, and 17.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 82.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 75.0 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $64,688, and the median income for a family was $86,897. Males had a median income of $60,527 versus $37,089 for females. The per capita income for the city was $45,640. About 1.6% of families and 3.5% of the population were below the poverty line, including 3.7% of those under age 18 and 6.4% of those age 65 or over. The median home value in Alamo Heights was $198,800.
Alamo Heights is served by the Alamo Heights Independent School District and Alamo Heights High School. The elementary schools are Howard Early Childhood Learning Center, Cambridge, and Woodridge. The middle school is the newly remodled Alamo Heights Junior School. The high school is Alamo Heights High School.
