Absam

Absam is a small village located approximately 13 km east of Innsbruck. The village has an estimated population of 6,500. The area of Absam is about 52 km². The village was founded as a place of pilgrimage in 995. Absam lies 632m above Sea Level. It is possible to reach the village by using bus lines D and E from Innsbruck.

On the 24th June 2000, the church of Absam was changed into a basilica even without interfering of the church community.

Some prayers are said to have been answered as claimed by votive plates hanging inside the church.

On the right side of the altar is a picture of grace of The Madonna which has always remained since 1797 even through cleaning procedures.
