Abbaye Sainte Marie de Maumont - Welcome
Abbaye Sainte Marie de Maumont is a monastery of Benedicine nuns, located between Angoulême and Bordeaux in southwest France. The guest house is open throughout the year to groups, families and individuals who wish to come for prayer, retrat, rest or vacation and enjoy the beautiful countryside. The monastery shop sells books, tapes and CD's of the monastic liturgy, as welll as products of other French monasteries. The abbey supports itself through bookbinding and making liturgical vestments. The bookbindery does bindings for public and private libraries, as well as for individual clients; their work ranges from simple cloth binding in leather and gold leaf, to restoration of old books in the style of the period. The liturgical vestments workshop makes albs, stoles, chasubles, dalmatics, mitres and altar cloths.
